500 million LinkedIn users’ details dumped online

An individual on a hacker forum claims to be selling the personal data  of 500 million LinkedIn profiles.

LinkedIn believes that the data includes information from many locations and not just from the professional social network.

“We have investigated a suspected set of LinkedIn data that has been put on sale and we have determined that this is in fact an aggregation of data from a number of websites and businesses,” LinkedIn said in a statement.

The company argues that “no private member account data from LinkedIn has been included” – which may mean that data only includes information that you would be able to see on someone’s public page.
